What is Thera-band?
What began in 1978 in Akron, Ohio, USA, with a few colored latex bands, has become synonymous with resistance products and training programs for improving strength, mobility and flexibility. Over the years, the Thera-Band® product range has developed in line with the needs and desires of the growing fitness and health market.
Today, the Thera-Band® brand offers professionals and individuals alike a complete range of products and training programs for fitness and health. One of the key factors in the success of the Thera-Band® brand has been, and continues to be, close, ongoing dialogue with experts. In 1999, the Thera-Band® Academy was founded as a platform for research, training and exchange of experience.
Its aim is to translate current research findings into scientifically-based products and training programs. In particular, the Thera-Band® elastic band is used in numerous exercise programs, with unquestionably positive results in terms of training and therapeutic effects.
Study results highlight the following effects, among others: strength training - pain reduction - improved balance - improved endurance - prevention of falls - lower blood pressure - improved body posture - reduced limitation of movement - improved functionality - improved mobility and flexibility.
Thera Band features
The Thera-Band® exercise band is economical, easy to transport and can be used in a variety of ways. What's more, the linear-growth resistance system is easily recognized by the Thera-Band® color code of beige, yellow, red, green, blue, black, silver and gold. This system makes it possible to perfectly adapt the start of training to personal fitness levels. The resistance of the band is proportional to its elongation.
If, for example, you stretch 50 cm of a red band to a length of 100 cm, the percentage of elongation corresponds to 100%. Use the table to calculate the force required for this stretch: 1.8 kg.
